As America approaches its 250th anniversary, YouTube is taking its mission to give everyone a front-row seat to the world’s most important stories one step further by turning historic milestones into immersive, interactive learning experiences.
For decades, C-SPAN has been a vital resource for civic content. This year, we’re deepening our partnership to bring its comprehensive coverage of the America 250 celebration directly to your screen.
We’ve added C-SPAN’s three primary channels to YouTube TV and are featuring its livestreams on the main YouTube platform, to ensure that some of the biggest moments in our democracy — from the State of the Union to national celebrations — are available for free, in real-time, to everyone in the United States.
This collaboration arrives at a pivotal time for civic engagement and discourse. In the first half of 2025 alone, viewers watched more than 15 billion hours of news on YouTube1.
On April 1, 2026, over 9 million viewers tuned in to the official NASA livestreams of the Artemis II mission launch globally, including over 3 million viewers in the U.S. The livestreams hit an aggregate peak concurrency of over 3.5 million viewers. (2)
Artemis II marked a historic moment: the first crewed mission to the moon in more than 50 years, and the first time since the age of the digital internet. This 10-day journey aboard the Orion spacecraft represented the spirit of American innovation as we prepare for the eventual journey to land on the moon again.
Our search shelf lets you travel back in time to relive iconic moments like Neil Armstrong’s first step on the Moon and the 2024 total eclipse, while also witnessing history and innovation in the making with Artemis II. To ensure the world could participate in this milestone together, the orbital phase of the mission was livestreamed on YouTube. This included official feeds alongside creator-led livestreams, where experts and enthusiasts helped break down the science of the journey in real-time.

Families can also join the celebration through a special curated playlist on YouTube Kids, designed to inspire the next generation of explorers. And to honor the astronomy community, we featured a custom YouTube logo (or “Yoodle”) timed to the lunar flyby.
Whether you’re a student, educator, or lifelong learner, our America 250 Hub is your destination to learn how YouTube is celebrating 250 years of American innovation, history, and culture. Here you can follow along with the latest stories as they unfold, and keep an eye out for more interactive learning moments and major milestones to come, as we continue to celebrate the innovations and individuals that shape our nation.
