Tate McRae’s “exes” is here to make you move

In celebration of the pop star’s new single out today, fans can break into dance with the #kissestomyexes challenge.

Fresh from the success of her smash single “greedy,” multi-platinum singer-songwriter Tate McRae is back today with “exes,” another surefire hit from her upcoming album THINK LATER. Fans have been anxiously awaiting the moment for the song and music video to arrive after the pop star shared a sneak peek of the new track on Shorts.

McRae shared, “We wrote “exes” on the last day of the album making process. It was kind of like the last hurrah that Ryan Tedder and I wrote in legitimately 30 minutes. It talks about my flaws in a relationship, and some of my self-deprecating and self-sabotaging tendencies. The music video was so insane to film — getting to dance that much with such incredible girls was a dream.”

To kick off the release and leading into what we expect to be an epic SNL performance, Tate is inviting fans to join in on the #kissestomyexes challenge on YouTube by letting the beat of “exes” drive their best dance moves. Whether your kisses are for the ex-ones or the next ones, taking part in the challenge is fun and easy - all you have to do is let “exes” take over while you share your own unique dance style in sync with the song.

Tate McRae has already been taking the YouTube charts by storm with the viral hit “greedy” from her upcoming album, with the track charting on Top Songs in over 30 markets and claiming #20 on US Top Songs on Shorts and #46 on Global Top Songs this week. In 2023 alone, she has earned more than 400 million views across YouTube. A previous YouTube Artist on the Rise, the singer-songwriter has been uploading videos to the platform since 2011 and already had 114 million views at the age of 16.
