Expanding the YouTube Music experience for TVs

We've got several new features to enhance the YouTube Music experience on TVs.

Wherever our YouTube Music users go, we want to be right there with them. Whether it’s taking a long drive or relaxing at home, YouTube Music has the perfect soundtrack for discovering and listening to your favorite music. After recently launching several new YouTube Music integrations for listening wherever you are (smart displays, Google Maps and Waze, Google Home and Nest speakers), we knew we had to bring YouTube Music to TVs. Since the launch of YouTube Music in the YouTube app on TVs this past July, we’ve been eagerly listening to your feedback and continue working hard to provide the best experience possible. Starting today, we’re excited to announce several new features, available on all smart TVs:

  • Enjoy your music library: Easily access your saved playlists and liked songs in your library, right in the YouTube Music tab within your YouTube app on your TV.

  • Find the music you love: Updated visuals to showcase album and playlist artwork in their best form, making it easy to find the music you love.

And on TVs running the Android TV OS, including the new Chromecast with Google TV, we’re adding in some favorite features:

  • Access your uploads: Upload songs to your YouTube Music library from your computer, and access them on the big screen.

  • Listen and look on TVs: A new playback interface now includes information like the song and artist name, and a progress bar as music plays.

  • Explore tunes on your home screen: On devices with the Android TV home screen, you’ll see an all new YouTube Music row to help you find your next song - from old classics to new hits.

These new features are just the beginning! We’re working hard to bring even more features to YouTube Music. In the coming months, YouTube Music Premium users will be able to continue playing music in the background after exiting the app, similar to YouTube Music on mobile, so stay tuned!

YouTube Music will soon replace Google Play Music on TVs. For devices running Android TV OS, YouTube Music will be automatically available on your device. If you don’t have it yet, and don’t want to wait, download YouTube Music today.

Happy listening!
