Come Through! for PRIDE 2022

This June, we're showcasing ways Pride can offer light, love, hope and a reason to celebrate.

It’s Pride time, and together with YouTube creators and the community, we’re going to come THROUGH.

Come Through! for Pride Shorts Challenge

As part of YouTube’s ongoing commitment to the community, we’re continuing our partnership with The Trevor Project, the world's largest suicide prevention and crisis intervention organization for LGBTQ+ youth, on a Come Through! For Pride Shorts challenge.

Entering the challenge is easy and fun! Create a Short showing how you’re stepping out for Pride with a before and after transformation, select the track “I'm Coming Out (for YouTube Shorts / Trevor Project)” by Halsey, use the hashtag #YouTubePrideChallenge and celebrate coming through for Pride! On top of YouTube’s donation to the Trevor Project, we’ll donate an additional $1 for every Short uploaded.

When YouTube asked me to reimagine a piece of the most iconic gay anthem of all time, I wanted it to feel wistful then burst into something confident, a little cocky even! As we should be.”

Halsey

If you’re looking for inspiration, turn to our Grand Marshal and winner of this season’s Rupaul’s Drag Race, Willow Pill, who will be Coming Through with some incredible fashion, along with Elle of the Mills, Ve’ondre Mitchell, Jackson Bird, Tarek Ali, Amber’s Closet, Brad Mondo and many more.

We hope you’re as excited to Come Through as we are! As Halsey shared, “I’m so thrilled to be working with YouTube in support of The Trevor Project! I’ve worked with both on so many occasions. When they asked me to reimagine a piece of the most iconic gay anthem of all time, of course I said yes. I wanted it to feel wistful and dreamy at first and then burst into something confident, a little cocky even! As we should be. It’s PRIDE!”

History of Pride

If you’re interested in learning more about LGBTQ+ history, check out our YouTube Pride destination where we have several playlists and videos, including A Brief History of Pride, which explores the origins of Pride. We’ll also showcase Come Through Short submissions there, so check back regularly to see the latest.

We’ll also host a special Pride themed logo on the YouTube homepage. Be sure to click on the butterfly to see a transformation before your own eyes.

Music to celebrate with

To keep the good times rolling, our global music team is getting us in the Pride groove with the “Pride Anthems” playlist on YouTube Music — kicking things off with a livestream concert and Premium Afterparty from Todrick Hall you won’t want to miss. Over the course of the month, we’ll also be spotlighting some of our most beloved LGBTQ+ artist partners including Asiahn, Muna, Kim Petras, Rina Sawayama, Saucy Santana, Tokischa, Trixie Mattel and more to celebrate Pride and the diversity of music on YouTube. What’s more, we’ve partnered with Warner Chappell Music and WMG’s “People Of Pride” to support their “Summer Of Pride” Writing Camp featuring the U.K.’s next-generation of songwriters and producers, mentored by some of the U.K.’s most established queer songwriters and artists.

We hope this Pride brings light, love, hope and a reason to celebrate.
