Why upcycling creators on YouTube are turning old waste into new treasure

Jun 05, 2026

Forget the dump—creators on YouTube are proving that one person's waste is truly another's treasure. Upcycling, the creative process of turning unlikely materials into stunning new products, is an evergreen hit.

From flipped furniture and revamped clothing to reimagined jewelry (and even boats!), ambitious DIYers use videos to document their unexpected transformations. The slow reveal of the final product builds massive anticipation while providing a blueprint that empowers viewers to repurpose existing materials and extend the life of products. The desire to reuse and reimagine is undeniably strong: In 2025, there were more than 80K uploads of videos with "upcycle" or "upcycling" in the title.*

As moving season gets underway, we’re celebrating the innovative creators in the upcycling community with a unique YouTube logo (also known as the Yoodle). Ready to start your own unexpected transformation? Roll up your sleeves and dive into our playlist.
