Nailing it: Celebrating the nail art community

Whether you want to create your own mini masterpiece or drift off to the soothing sounds of filing and buffing, there’s a nail art video for everyone.

Bring on the acrylics. Nail Day is definitely a niche holiday, but it pays homage to a community of nail artists whose creations are anything but niche nowadays: There were more than 5 billion views globally of videos related to nail art in 2022. That’s a lot of nails… and polish and 3D embellishments.

That’s why we’re taking a moment today to recognize the artists and their creations: Head to YouTube and you’ll find a temporary takeover of the YouTube logo, a playlist celebrating just a small selection of recent standout designs, and an original video narrated by a creator who’s put everything from $1,000 press-ons to snow globe-style acrylics to the test.

Nail art’s appeal is driven, in part, by its versatility and accessibility. For starters, it doesn’t fit squarely within one single vertical, instead crossing from beauty to art to learning. Then there’s the pure visual appeal, resulting in language agnostic videos that allow artists in Korea to reach those in Brazil and vice versa. Nail art can both reflect larger pop culture moments, and drive interesting trends of its own (polish mountain, anyone?). The ten-fingernail canvas can be an outlet for getting to know someone better via storytimes, or it can be used to tap away the anxiety.
