Election Day 2020: Live on YouTube
Election Day is here! You’ve come to YouTube in the lead-up for timely news and information, and we’ve worked hard this election season to make sure we have the systems and policies in place to prevent the abuse of our systems and provide access to authoritative information. Here are a few ways you can keep up with the latest developments around the country on YouTube.
Beginning today, we’ll prominently surface an election results information panel above search results and under videos about the 2020 U.S. presidential and federal elections, including those about election results. This information panel will note that results may not be final and link to Google’s election results feature, so you can track the returns in real time. And if you haven’t voted yet and want more information about where you can go to vote, look toward the top of your YouTube homepage, where we’re promoting a link to Google’s “where to vote” feature. Then, as polls close, we’ll show a shelf with live streams of election night news coverage. While you’re there, you’ll also see that—instead of our usual YouTube logo—we have a ballot box icon to represent Election Day.
