Executive producers Ridley Scott and Kai Hsiung, along with director Kevin Macdonald, asked you and the YouTube global community to pick up your cameras to create “Life In A Day 2020.”
You heard the call-to-action, and you delivered. The team received over 300,000 submissions from 191 countries in more than 65 languages, representing thousands of hours of video footage. At peak times during the submission period, entries were being uploaded at a rate of one per second!
And while the filmmakers received footage from COVID-19 vaccine researchers, Black Lives Matter protesters, and even monks in Tibet... just like the first “Life In A Day,” the 2020 version of the YouTube Originals documentary will celebrate the extraordinary beauty that can be found in a single, ordinary day from anyone experiencing life in this world.
The filmmakers have already started the massive submission consideration process, utilizing multilingual reviewers all over the world as a first step, and all are eager to see what you submitted. If your footage is selected, the production team will reach out to you directly.
YouTube and the filmmakers want to sincerely thank you for participating and for making this a truly global project. We can’t wait to share the finished film with you in 2021!
