For months, we have all been focused on the development of the COVID-19 vaccines. Now that effective vaccines have been approved by many health authorities around the world, the focus has shifted toward two new challenges: ensuring access to vaccines for everyone, and ensuring that as many people as possible actually get vaccinated when it is offered.
As we’ve discovered throughout the pandemic, effective communication is a crucial part of improving public health. When it comes to our global vaccination efforts, building confidence and trust in these new vaccines will be the difference maker that ends the pandemic and allows a return to normal life.
YouTube is committed to leveraging our platform’s reach (2B+ monthly logged-in viewers) and the diversity of the YouTube creator community, to help make the science of COVID-19 vaccines easy to understand and more accessible to people all over the world. This is a pivotal moment in history and in public health, and we are deeply invested in ensuring we meet the moment as the platform where the world comes to watch and learn.
We will do this in three ways: First, we’ll continue to raise up authoritative information from Local Health Authorities and community-based health organizations. Second, we are investing in a new, multimillion-dollar campaign to address vaccine hesitancy in countries around the world. And lastly, we will build on our success to-date in connecting our creators with trusted health experts to reimagine how vaccine information is shared.
