More than music: Eurovision is a global party

Eurovision is BACK on YouTube

What The Hell Just Happened? How Much Time Do We Have? C’est La Vie. Do these sound like your daily thoughts? Turns out they are all titles of Eurovision songs from this year. That’s the magic of Eurovision:, it’s gloriously eccentric, yet it taps into the global vibe like nothing else.

Tune in at 9:00 PM Central European Summer Time on May 17th to see who will be this year’s winner!

Born from a post-WWII desire for unity in 1956, Eurovision has become a predictably unpredictable spectacle of musical talent. In 2024, Eurovision hooked 163 million viewers, and this year it continues its massive global reach. Think awe-inspiring fashion and vibrant make-up, wild choreography, gigantic sets, and unforgettable performances from artists from across the world.

For the 11th year, the semi-finals and grand final are streaming live on the Eurovision Song Contest YouTube Channel. Tune in tomorrow for the grand final!

(Heads up: The livestream will be available everywhere except in the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Lithuania, and Greece but all performances will be available on the Eurovision channel after the show.)

Leading a music evolution

the 2025 eurovision trophy

While families and friends gather in living rooms across the globe to watch the show, platforms like YouTube have changed the way people watch and experience Eurovision.

We’ve seen an explosion of fan content, with creators like Eurovision Histories and WiwiBloggs dissecting everything from the contest’s history, to hilarious reactions, to predictions and artist interviews. The comments sections are always buzzing with fan debates.

Artists are also using YouTube to build community. Last year’s winner, Nemo, was a pro, using YouTube Shorts for trends, vlogs, and collaborations before their win. Most contestants this year are doing the same, recognizing its crucial role in success. Plus, our platform acts as an incredible archive to rewatch classic Eurovision performances from legends like Celine Dion, ABBA, and Olivia Newton-John.

We’re thrilled to play a part in this cultural moment. YouTube gives everyone a voice through shared stories, and Eurovision truly embodies that spirit. So, get ready to cheer, sing along, and experience this incredible global entertainment. Good luck to all the artists! And if after all the fun you still ask “What The Hell Just Happened?”, well, as another Eurovision song suggests, “Let’s Just Sauna.”
