Celebrating 10 years of fandom on YouTube Music

A full-screen mobile view of the YouTube Music app. The screen is in dark mode. The top half is dominated by a playlist called "Emily & Kate," with a stylized album art featuring two intersecting orange-hued, elliptical shapes on a pale purple background. The text "A playlist based on your taste, updated daily" is shown below the playlist title. Below this are icons for download, edit, play, share, and a three-dot menu. The bottom half of the screen lists a few songs in the playlist: "Dreamin (feat. Daya)" by Dom Dolla, "The Subway" by Chappell Roan, and a partially visible third song, "(It Goes Like) Nanana (Edit)" by Peggy Gou. At the very bottom, there is a navigation bar with icons for Home, Samples, Explore, and Library.

For 10 years, YouTube Music has brought fans and artists together by fostering a global community and cultivating an unmatched collection of music. Today, we’re introducing new updates that strengthen those connections and celebrate fandom.

Press play on community

The only thing better than a perfect song is the perfect next song. On YouTube, fans have created over 4 billion music playlists—including 1.8 billion public ones—so you can find the right soundtrack for any occasion. And soon, you’ll be able to share your comments directly on albums and playlists to keep the conversation going around the music you love.

We’re also introducing taste match playlists, an easy way to connect over shared music tastes and discover new songs. The playlists are automatically updated daily based on the music taste of everyone who has joined them.

The image displays three different views of the YouTube Music mobile app. The left panel shows an artist's profile page for Sabrina Carpenter. The profile features a banner image and a circular profile picture. Below the artist's name and subscriber count, there's a "Concerts" section with a list of upcoming shows in Los Angeles, California, including dates in November. The middle panel shows a video playing at the top, and below it, a "Concerts" section with a list of shows near Los Angeles and other cities like New York and Nashville, with specific dates and venues like Crypto.com Arena and Madison Square Garden. The right panel shows a YouTube Shorts video playing, with an overlay at the bottom promoting an upcoming concert and a link to "Manchild vid out now."

A front row seat to your favorite artists

YouTube Music is home to an extensive music catalog with over 300M tracks, including official studio recordings, remixes, live performances, and covers. That means if you’re a fan of Chappell Roan, you can find her epic “The Subway” music video, her studio album, or even her early covers and show-stopping GRAMMYs performance in the YouTube Music app.

And we’re making it easier to catch more iconic performances live by showing nearby and upcoming shows from your favorite artists in more places across YouTube and YouTube Music. Through an exclusive partnership with Bandsintown, music fans can easily discover upcoming concerts while watching artist videos and Shorts or exploring Official Artist Channels on YouTube. We’re also adding new notifications to let you know when upcoming releases from your favorite artists are announced, new merch is dropping, or event dates are added - so fans never miss a beat.

A two-panel image showing mobile screens from the YouTube Music app. The left panel shows a "Badges" screen, displaying a list of badges earned by the user. The badges include "First to Watch Club" badges for "The Subway" by Chappell Roan, "JUMP" by BLACKPINK, and "Dirty Work" by aespa, with accompanying details like the date and the user's ranking (e.g., "first 4% of fans to watch"). There is also a "Top Listener" badge for Olivia Rodrigo, indicating the user was in the "top 0.01% of listeners in November 2024." The right panel shows a YouTube video page. The video is titled "First to Watch Club" with the caption "I was in the first 5% of fans to watch Whiplash by aespa." Below the video are interaction icons for thumbs up, thumbs down, share, and save, along with a comments section.

Show off your fandom

We've recently introduced new badges for fans on YouTube Music, offering new ways for dedicated supporters to showcase their loyalty. Badges like "First to Watch" and "Top Listener" recognize top fans, allowing them to display their fandom in new ways - with more coming.

We’ll also launch a new way to contribute to an artist’s success. Music video watch milestones will highlight official artist videos nearing major “view” milestones (think 100,000, 1M, even 1B views!) and motivate true fans to help their favorite artists hit major milestones.

These updates are just the beginning of our next chapter at YouTube Music where we’re focusing on bringing fans even closer to the artists they love. We can't wait for you to dive in and explore.
