Head of Pre Production - Chad Terrell

What does an average day at your job look like?

Every day is radically different. That's one special thing about Dude Perfect. We’re either prepping cameras, on location setting up for a shoot, filming or just like getting our media back to the editing base.

How did you get started in this industry?
I was studying coding in college originally and I realized that I didn't really want to be in front of a computer for the rest of my life, so I started navigating to film. I worked with the Texas A&M football team, fell in love with cameras, and then just sent a random email to Dude Perfect that said, “I love what you're doing, but I can do it better than y'all.” I got interviewed the next day.

What's the craziest location you've ever had to scout for a Dude Perfect video?

We went to Seattle where Cody Jones did a wing walking video. I think that video is called ‘vehicle bucket list.’ We got connected with a group that does random wing walking stuff and I actually got to go on the plane first and test it for Cody. So I got to actually fly on top of a plane and wing walk, and then landed back at the top and got to tell Cody all about it. That was crazy and a little dangerous. My wife wasn't too happy about it.

Head of Post Production - Tim Holt

What does an average day at your job look like?

I lead up the post-production team, so I get to come in and work with a bunch of incredible people editing the videos and putting them together for all the folks that watch on YouTube. It's a lot of work, but it's a ton of fun.

What are the biggest challenges you run into when editing a Dude Perfect video?

One of the biggest challenges that we run into when editing is the turnaround time. Some of our videos are turned around very, very quickly. The one we're working on right now, we have under 10 days to turn it around, and it's a project with quite a high scale. One of the benefits of the job is we have a lot of variety in our content, but that also can be challenging at times too, because we have so many different styles of videos and each video has a uniqueness to it. That can be challenging too, but it also makes it fun.

Do you have any advice for aspiring video editors?

Don't stop creating. Try and build your portfolio and never be afraid to throw a shot in the dark email to a place you wanna work at, cause that's how I got here and it’s been a fun ride.

A little controlled chaos comes with the territory, but that's what makes this place exciting.”

Marc Grice Facilities Manager, Dude Perfect

Facilities Manager - Marc Grice

What does an average day at your job look like?

The facility team is like the Swiss Army knife of the building where we just help out whatever departments we can, but ultimately we show up early and ensure that all the building processes and systems are running efficiently and that the coffee machines are ready for battle.

What's the most challenging part of keeping this massive facility running smoothly?

When people walk into the building, they rediscover their inner child, so keeping this building clutter free and organized is probably the hardest part. A little controlled chaos comes with the territory, but that's what makes this place exciting.

What's your favorite feature of the new headquarters?
I have had my hand on the installation part for every single feature in the building, but if I had to pick one, I would probably pick the slide because it saves me about a thousand steps a day.

Art Director - Justin Kenyon

What does an average day at your job look like?

An average day is taking the ideas from the creative team and trying to turn them into reality — whether that's creating props, sets, building stuff from scratch, engineering, or something absolutely ridiculous. It’s just a culmination of turning their brainchild into reality and building stuff for the team.

How did you get started in this industry?

I started as a theater kid in high school. I went to college for theater, initially wanted to do acting, but was more drawn towards building sets. Then I worked my way into the film industry and did a couple TV shows, a bunch of commercials in the Dallas area, a couple movies. Then one day I got a call from Dude Perfect and I've been here ever since.

What’s the most outlandish set or prop you’ve ever built?
We make a lot of really ridiculous things! My favorite and the first I really took hold of was a 15 foot Hot Wheels loopity loop, but our department's favorite is the unpredictable trick shots 'cause that's where we get to show off a lot of our engineering skills and really trick the viewer.

Customer Support Manager - Kelsey Morris

What does an average day at your job look like?
Well, every day is definitely different, but I connect with fans and the fan experience, whether that is through the merchandise email, the fan email that we have, or even getting a chance to bring people in to see what it's like being in Dude Perfect's headquarters. I love showing our guests around and hooking 'em up with some DP swag.

What’s the most rewarding part of your job?
Oh, it's definitely seeing the way that the fans interact with Dude Perfect. We have some pretty epic fans that know everything about the dudes, everything about our videos, and seeing how excited they get, whether it's an 11-year-old or a father who's showing his kid the channel.

What do you think the key is to building a tight knit community as a creator?
I think just being able to have some opportunity for them to interact. Being that we are primarily on YouTube, that's like a flat screen. We want to create the opportunity to buy Dude Perfect merch, to send in fan mail, send in emails, and of course, to talk to community members on YouTube. Just making sure that they feel a part of the brand is super important.
