Medical school content on YouTube has blossomed into a vibrant community, offering a raw and unfiltered look into the lives of aspiring doctors. In fact, in 2024, there were more than 25M views of videos related to medical school with "vlog" in the title.* These "med-fluencers," as they're sometimes called, document their journeys through rigorous study schedules, demanding clinical rotations, and the constant pressure of a high-stakes career path.

Through vlog-style videos, creators share experiential advice, share the anxieties and uncertainties inherent in medical training, and offer glimpses into their personal lives, revealing the delicate balance they strive for. Match Day, in particular, becomes a focal point, a moment of intense anticipation and emotional release captured and shared with their online audience when that coveted residency has been secured.

By sharing their personal struggles and successes, medical student YouTube creators are demystifying the journey to becoming a doctor and creating a sense of solidarity that extends far beyond the walls of the classroom or hospital.
