YouTube Partner Program, Explained

Creating is the most rewarding on YouTube. The YouTube Partner Program is here to provide support when you need it, connect you with the wider Partner community, and help you earn money for the videos you make.

We’re breaking down exactly what the YouTube Partner Program is and how you can get started building your business on YouTube. Check out this video and read below for the biggest takeaways.

First thing’s first…who is eligible? To be eligible for YPP, creators must have 500 subscribers, 3,000 watch hours on their long-form videos, or 3 million views on their Shorts videos to access fan funding features and the ability to promote their own products. Once they reach 1,000 subscribers, 4,000 watch hours, and 10 million shorts views, they automatically become eligible to earn revenue sharing from ads and even more benefits.

Here’s more details on a few of the ways creators can earn through YPP:

  • Ad revenue sharing: Creators earn a share of the revenue from ads that run on their videos. The share is 55% for long-form videos and 45% for shorts.
  • Fan funding: Creators can earn money from their fans through channel memberships, super chat, and other features.
  • Shopping: Creators can sell their own products or affiliate products through their videos.
  • YouTube Premium revenue sharing: Creators earn a share of the revenue from YouTube Premium subscribers who watch their videos.
