Today, we are celebrating a milestone for the Spanish-speaking community: Argentine creator Alejo Igoa reached 100 million subscribers and is now the most-subscribed Spanish-language channel on YouTube.
With over 31 billion views since his journey began in January 2014, Alejo’s channel has seen steady and impressive growth. What started as a young man from Misiones, Argentina, experimenting with a camera has transformed into a highly viewed international channel.
To commemorate this moment, Alejo recently received his custom Red Diamond creator button and we to discuss his journey, the laughs along the way, and what comes next.
Alejo: My mind went blank. My first reaction was to jump straight into the pool with my clothes, phone, and everything on. It was a very emotional moment.
Alejo: For me, long videos. I mean, Shorts are very brief, whereas in long-form videos, I can really flow.
Alejo: I'd tell him that he makes me cringe a lot... [laughs] but that he should keep doing what he's doing, because he's now the biggest Spanish-speaking YouTuber.
Alejo: Israel. It was crazy because I had no idea my content even reached Israel—and on top of that, they spoke perfect Spanish. It was pure madness.
Alejo: Definitely the final result. When I'm recording, I have this uncertainty of not knowing how the video will turn out, but once it's edited, I have this moment where I think, 'Ah, it didn't turn out so bad, it looks good!'
Alejo: Mate. At first, I didn't like it much because it burned me. I later discovered you can drink it not-so-hot... and then I started to like it.
